Podcast: Justice in the Eurozone
From the superb philosophy podcast Hinterfragt: Der Ethik-Podcast (in German): The Eurozone generates efficiency gains but also deprives member states of an important instrument of economic policy. In this conversation with Andreas Cassee and Anna Goppel, we talk about the normative questions that monetary governance raises. Building on my work on Eurozone justice, I argue that monetary union creates specific obligations of fairness between member states — including principles of non-exploitability and equitable risk-sharing — that go well beyond what existing EU institutions deliver.
